Safety Reminders - Summer Road Work & General

7/3/2023

As summer is upon us, we'd like to take this opportunity for some reminders on safety, as we've received some complaints that some people in this community just can't be bothered.
  1. The community has a speed limit. While most agree that 20 is a little excessive, it's been stated numerous times, 25-30 is considered reasonable. 60 is not.
  2. When a vehicle is stopped in the road to allow wildlife to cross or get out of the road, that shouldn't be your opportunity to pass said vehicle while flipping them off. It very well could have been people crossing the road, another member's children or even their pet. Think before you react, it'll help you along in life.
  3. Stop signs in the community exist for a reason. They aren't up to create options, but for safety purposes. Stop signs are the red octagon shaped signs.
  4. Safety of those walking our roads should be something you are concerned with. As much as drivers should be mindful of walkers, those walking shouldn't be in the middle of the roadways and following pedestrian safety tips. For a refresher, please visit PennDOT's site HERE.
  5. Road crews, whether outside vendors or volunteers from the community, may need to re-route traffic, temporarily close roads, etc. These aren't optional or negotiable, no matter what the armchair experts claim.
  6. Road crews, whether outside vendors or volunteers from the community, are entitled to their safety. Be mindful of this while traversing the roads.
  7. No contractor or volunteer doing any work in this community needs to be subjected to your "expertise". Got suggestions, go to a board meeting or email the board with them. The job not to your liking? Contact the board.
Finally, as an FYI. Road work will continue throughout the week, picking back up once there is a break in weather, which is possibly Wednesday, July 5th. Numerous roads are going to be worked on and the vendor doing the work appreciates you keeping his/her crew safe as well as continued patience.
