Winter is Coming? Winter is Here? It's snowing...

11/15/2022

Of course, with weather rolling in and a forecast of 1-5 inches and some ice, this is a great time to get out some reminders. At the end of these reminders, we also have some information from the Township, which will be provided at the end.
Winter Reminders:
  1. Keep 7-10 days of food, water and fuel on hand, if applicable. It isn't a regular occurrence, but historically speaking, we've seen power outages up to 10 days due to weather related events. Ensure you have enough supplies to get through those events.
  2. Garbage cans and any other items must be removed from the roadsides. PMLE has an easement on either side of the road and our contractor has been instructed to ensure that the roads are maintained road edge to road edge.
    1. Any damage done to your garbage cans or other items you store at the edge of the road, is at your expense.
  3. Any vehicles left on our roads will be towed at the owners expense (this is a year round rule). There are no exceptions. Any owners of vehicles towed, must contact Wrenches to make arrangements to get their vehicle and pay any associated fees.
    1. If an event is occurring, we do allow parking at the mailbox/bus stop area. However, if you don't notify the board then there is a possibility your vehicle will be towed. To notify the board, please send an email HERE.
  4. When plowing, snow blowing or shoveling your driveway, do NOT distribute your snow on our roads. The Contractor has been instructed to take note of the house and road if this occurs so that the member can be given a chance to rectify the situation. All subsequent offenses could/may see the member fined.
  5. Complaints/Issues: This is a topic we stress every single year. If you have a complaint or are having an issue, the easiest way to reach the board is via email, not Facebook, unless you are just trying to stir the pot. We've learned that over the years, Facebook is a melting pot of drama and we will not read, react or respond to Facebook complaints. They will be ignored, as this is NOT the avenue to reach board members. Facebook is owned by the community members for the community members, where they allow us to post these links to our news items.
    1. Board Member(s): Each one of the board member's has either a job, family, personal commitments, etc. that they must tend to. Therefore, if you're looking for an immediate resolution, then, unfortunately, you are out of luck. However, if you truly have an issue, we can't address them, unless we're given that information.
    2. General Plowing Information: It has always been a long standing rule of thumb that the plowing commences on all main roads first, then secondary roads (connecting side roads) and finally the tertiary roads (cul-de-sac's, dead-ends, etc.).
      1. During major accumulation events, the roads are only plowed to be "passable". Final road clearing does not take place until the end of the event or the event is over. Please keep this in mind.
  6. We are not NJDOT, PADOT or even NYDOT. We just don't have the same budget to keep the roads perfectly clear of all snow and ice. However, we do sign contracts to ensure that our vendor(s) will provide the best possible service that our budget allows.
  7. Please drive conducive to the weather conditions.
  8. Be mindful that people may be on the roads (walking home after leaving their vehicle at the mailbox, walking their pets, kids walking home from the bus stop, etc.).
  9. Bus Stop: We have a bus stop and it's expected that all members picking up/dropping off children will use it. There is NOT enough room for the shoulders of the road to be utilized for picking up your child(ren). The bus stop is the safest area for picking up or dropping off kids for/from the bus.

Finally, the township has asked us to get word out of a survey they are doing. Please take a few moments to read over the attached flyer, follow the link and take the survey. They are also requesting that members of the Township attend the December 6th Public Workshop.
