Bus Stop Safety Concerns

Our current bus stop for the DVSD is under review after some driver and bus company feedback. Following some safety concerns, the bus company has asked us to specifically relay their concerns to our community parents, informing them of what should and should not be happening (some of these items have been clearly stated before, but now requires some urgency).

1. NO cars should be parked along the roadways of Loftus Lane or  Log & Twig Road. This includes the hill leading to Section 5 or the part of Loftus that resides in Section 6 near the bus stop. The bus needs a clear line of sight to turnaround.
   
   1. ALL vehicles MUST be parked in the parking lot, there are no exceptions.
      
2. ALL children MUST use the tow/walking path down into the parking lot.
   
3. Children ARE NOT to approach or egress the bus alongside of the bus or from behind the bus. The bus driver must maintain line of sight for all children.
   
4. Do Not try and "beat" the bus. The bus turning around takes a minute or so.
   

The above practices are necessary for us to maintain a safe environment for the bus driver, the children onboard and the children from our community. Not following these will result in a warning via postal mail and subsequent warnings may/can include a fine. We ask that parents who are at the bus stop, please help us in ensuring these procedures are followed.
